Who we are

The people behind Property Research Institute are a group of property experts and academic researchers. On the practitioner side, our team holds licences under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008, which means we are bound by the professional conduct and client care rules administered by the Real Estate Authority. On the research side, our team includes academics who hold PhDs and who have spent years in university research and teaching, in fields ranging from urban economics to planning and data science.

We built the Institute this way on purpose. A licensed practitioner knows how a deal actually closes, what a buyer will really pay, and where a feasibility tends to fall over. An academic researcher knows how to design a method that holds up, how to test a hypothesis against evidence, and how to write conclusions that survive scrutiny. Most property advice draws on one of these and not the other. Our work draws on both, every time.

Independence is only worth something if it is backed by accountability. Three commitments sit underneath every piece of work we produce.

Licensed and accountable

Our property practitioners are licensed under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 and work to its conduct and client care standards, overseen by the Real Estate Authority.

Academic rigour

Our methods are designed and reviewed by doctoral researchers. Findings are peer checked inside the team before release, and our methodology is set out so a reader can judge it.

Genuine independence

We do not lend, and we do not sell property on commission as part of our research engagements. That means our conclusions are not steered by a transaction we stand to gain from.
